Mechanical & Tooling Design

Mechanical Design

MERC has a dedicated Mechanical Design Division that is accustomed to developing design solutions, from the initial concept through the development of CAD models and Technical Data Packages and prototyping. Our design team is very capable of delivering Technical Data Packages to ASME standards and in accepted USAF formats.

Recent examples of such design efforts have included development of a new nose avionics shelf and floor beam repair section for the HH-60G and modifications to a customer’s existing work-stand design.

MERC engineers can support your needs using Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, PTC Creo, CATIA, or AutoCAD.

Tooling Design

MERC’s engineers can support the need for new tooling, whether for bonded panels or welded assemblies. MERC has designed tools for various items in the past and can fabricate them in-house or by one of our suppliers.

In one project, MERC developed bond fixture tooling for outer mold line skins of the A-10 Nacelles. For the EC-130J, MERC developed a tool and created prototype parts for a replacement vertical trailing wire antenna light lens cover. MERC also created tooling to allow for competitive procurement of the C-130 air intake scoops.
