Structural Testing

MERC uses its in-house equipment and capabilities for structural analysis.

MERC’s structural test lab includes a 265,000 lb. load frame, a 110,000 lb. load frame, and two 22,000 lb. load frames for static and fatigue testing. The 265,000 lb. load frame can test up to 15 ft. specimens.

Coupon testing capabilities include tests for elastic and shear modulus, shear, and tensile and compressive strength on flat, round, or any other shape specimen.

MERC can characterize composite layups and sandwich panels, including the constituent material properties using combinations of tensile, direct shear, and flexural beam tests to various American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.

Using multiple hydraulic actuators to apply loads in various directions, MERC can replicate real-life loading scenarios for fatigue or static testing of large assemblies or components.
