NDI/Corrosion

MERC maintains both advanced Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) and Level III certification in support of critical and routine customer requirements.

MERC NDI Level III personnel developing new inspection procedures.

MERC’s Level III certification includes the following tests:

  • Eddy current
  • Fluorescent liquid penetrant
  • Magnetic particle
  • Ultrasonic

MERC’s extensive experience with these testing methods assists clients with accelerating inspection processes, collecting/analyzing data, and providing actionable information for engineers and maintenance personnel. For example, MERC has completed NDI procedure rewrites for the F-15, H-1, H-60, and E-8 NDI manuals.

MERC’s staff provides engineering support to combat corrosion on the HH-60G, TH-1H, and UH-1N helicopters.

Mercer University chemistry professors collaborating on new corrosion detection techniques.

We have developed a corrosion prevention and control program plan for these aircraft and provide a variety of engineering support functions in support of the plan. These support functions include developing recommendations for solutions to recurring corrosion problems, creating prototype parts, providing analysis of maintenance data to isolate problem areas, and creating metrics for corrosion issue.

MERC, along with Mercer University chemistry professors, have provided cutting-edge corrosion technology to detect corrosion before it is able to be identified by a visual inspection.
