MERC has reverse engineered a wide array of avionics items, ranging from cable harnesses, components, circuit card assemblies, and avionic line replaceable units.
We have mitigated many items for diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages (DMSMS) issues, which seriously affect avionic systems and the test equipment used to sustain these systems. MERC has a long history of analyzing DMSMS issues and deriving mitigating strategies to return the affected system to a healthy state of readiness. Using supply system data, aircraft status information, and technical data about the system under review, MERC engineers work to develop a comprehensive understanding of the root cause of the issue and then identify the most cost-effective approach for mitigation. Mitigation can take the form of a targeted technology insertion affecting a single circuit board assembly, while at other times a complete form-fit-function redesign of an LRU is required.
MERC provides the engineering expertise to support the qualification of modified avionic systems including electromagnetic interference compatibility and susceptibility, aircraft power systems compatibility, and environmental and mechanical compatibility.
