Durability/damage Tolerance Analysis

MERC modeled progressive crack growth model of a C-130 corner fitting to determine inspection intervals and improve aircraft safety.

MERC has developed computational tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of finite element-based fracture mechanics analyses in support of durability and damage tolerance analyses (DADTA) of aircraft structures.

These tools insert specialized analysis capabilities directly into the finite element model so that no transfer of data to a second crack growth program is required. These MERC tools also utilize algorithms for predicting out-of-plane crack growth.
