Two MERC engineers presented papers at the Vertical Flight Society (VFS) forum, held virtually this year October 6 – 8. Dr. Ken Taylor’s paper, “Determining TH-1H Tailboom Loads from Measured Strain Gage Data,” discussed work performed by MERC for the United States Air Force. His co-authors included Maggie Gibson and Katie Mason Mullis from MERC. Dr. Bob McGinty presented work done by MERC for the US Navy in collaboration with the Australian Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group on the Helicopter Airframe Full Scale Fatigue Test – Technology Demonstrator (HAFT-TD) program and was entitled, “MH-60 Full Scale Test Rig Loads Development and Analysis.” His co-authors included Jeff Brenna from MERC, NAVAIR contributors Dan Liebschutz and Phil Conjelko, and John Vine from DST Group.
