MERC has developed innovative methods for probabilistic forecasting of multi-element structural damage on aircraft to improve aircraft safety and provide a methodology to substantiate aircraft service life. MERC used this methodology to establish a service life for the USAF’s HH-60G fleet, ensuring fleet safety while extending the service life past previously established limits. MERC’s engineers won the Best Paper Award at the American Helicopter Society Annual Forum for their paper on this effort, “HH-60G Airframe Service Life via Multi-Element Damage Monte Carlo Risk Analysis.”
