MERC Industrial Engineers provide government and commercial clients with solutions to challenges in manufacturing and aircraft maintenance environments.  Industrial Engineers have assisted aircraft maintenance personnel with streamlining various maintenance processes to increase efficiency and reduce cycle times.

This is evident in the development of the C-130 Ramp Work Stand, C-130 Temporary Floorboards, and C-130 Universal Cargo Door Hoist Adapter.

MERC has extensive experience with writing procedures for tooling, support equipment, and aircraft maintenance processes.

MERC’s industrial engineering expertise also includes the use of computer simulation software to assist with manpower planning of an aircraft’s maintenance cycle through the use of the Resource Constrained Activity Network (RCAN).

MERC performs reliability and maintainability studies to assist clients with validating and refining preventative maintenance requirements.

C-130 RBF Tooling

MERC developed new Rainbow Fitting (RBF) installation tooling and two separate installation procedures.

C-130 Ramp Work Stand

MERC, working with Robins AFB 402nd Maintenance Wing personnel, developed a ramp work stand to eliminate the need to temporarily install the cargo ramp during the cargo door removal and installation on a C-130 aircraft. The ramp work stand has the ability to be raised so it can be used when the aircraft is jacked

MERC, working with Robins AFB 402nd Maintenance Wing personnel, developed temporary floorboards to be used to tow and jack a C-130 aircraft without the aircraft floorboards installed. Some of the aircraft floorboards were required to be installed in order to tow and jack the aircraft thus resulting in an approximate 2 week delay in beginning

C-130 Universal Cargo Door Hoist Adapter

Working at the direction of Robins AFB 402nd Maintenance Wing, MERC developed a hoist adapter to aid in C-130 cargo door installation.

Condition Based Maintenance

MERC was tasked to determine a method for rank-ordering the C-130 fleet in terms of anticipated maintenance needs, with a goal of basing depot schedules on aircraft condition.

Resource Constrained Activity Network (RCAN)

The Resource Constrained Activity Network (RCAN) is a software application that helps planners determine the optimum manpower needed to meet a desired aircraft repair cycle time.

Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Procedure Development

MERC develops both new and modified NDI procedures for the USAF
